Archaeological Museum

The Museum, which opened in 2010, is housed in the former city hall and features several collections dedicated to discoveries made over the centuries in the area, providing an in-depth perspective on the town’s history and archaeology.

Museo Archeologico

It is structured into three sections belonging to the prehistoric and protohistoric, Roman, late ancient, and early medieval periods. The Prehistoric and Protohistoric section exhibits many artifacts of lithic industry, in flint and limestone, on pebbles and flakes, dating back to Homo Erectus and Homo Sapiens, as well as fragments of pottery and metal materials, both bronze and iron. The Roman section presents terracotta products, black-glazed pottery, marbles, inscriptions and mosaics from the many settlement structures and burial grounds located along the Via Flaminia. Lastly, the Late Antique and Early Medieval section houses mainly artifacts from the Longobard Portone necropolis.
